the 50 Babes Project

Miss Virginia

from 15.00

Miss Virginia, Kayla, is a VA native. The state was named after Queen Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen. This monicker was given to her because she was unmarried and a rumors & whispers surrounded her 'virginity.' The Queen granted Walter Raleigh a charter to stake a colony north of Spanish Florida, most of that coast was originally referred to as Virginia. Kayla smokes a cigarette for VA's major cash crop, tobacco. The famous state slogan, "Virginia is for Lovers" is on a pin that sits in her hair with the state flower and bird, a dogwood blossom & cardinal. Kayla's hair style, corset, and collar reinforce the Elizabethan connection to the Queen while the navy blue ribbon and blaze orange background hint at a more modern element of VA - the Cavaliers of UVA. Kayla also sports a gold earring in the shape of the Pentagon.

The 50 babes Project is a new series capturing beautiful babes (men & women) from each state. It is my love letter to the vintage postcards we all know and love.
