A friendship split, a war raging, we find our heroes on opposing sides. This painting of Captain America and Iron Man is modeled after a famous Civil War era photograph of two brothers sitting together, one a soldier form the North and the other fighting for the South.

Expounding upon the original inspiration, I’ve reimagined the uniforms of Tony Stark and Steve Rogers as a hybrid of 1800’s civil war uniforms with a steampunk aesthetic (to account for Tony’s technological leanings).
